Postnatal Pilates

Our *NEW* Postnatal Pilates classes are scheduled for Thursdays at 11am. They focus on your core stability and posture, with particular attention paid to your pelvic floor muscles. The aim is to help your body to recover after childbirth, and help restore your body. Our Postnatal Pilates classes are mat based and are suitable for all levels of fitness.

Exercising post pregnancy

Keeping fit and active after your pregnancy will help you to more easily recover your body strength, shape and weight. It will also help you to cope with being a Mum.

Each class is designed to help restore muscle strength and firm up your body following pregnancy. The exercises will help release tension with breath control and mind body connection.

You will feel an increase in your energy levels as we exercise all your major muscles and joints. Your workout will help restore muscle balance, and core strength with moves incorporating resistance using your body weight and hand weights.

When can you start Postnatal Pilates?

This can vary depending on how your body is after the birth. Factors such as the type of birth (vaginal or cesarean) and the degree of separation of the abdominal wall (diastasis recti) will affect the readiness to exercise.

Generally, most women will be ready to start postnatal Pilates 6 weeks after giving birth.

To ensure that you’re ready, please check with your GP or midwife to ensure Pilates is right for you at this time.
